Clausholm Sole Mio |
The last foal show of the year was held locally, and all
our foals were entered. Gunn Johansson of the Burhult Stud in Sweden
judged together with Jette Møller Sørensen which resulted in good solid
comments for each foal. Sole Mio was the first in the ring and ended as
3rd. The Bs Volvo and Jean ended both 2nd, both times to the strong Norwegian
entries. A very good day without any photos of our own ponies, but a few
shots were taken when Sole Mio and Jean showed the room mate Caomi,
warmblood horse, how to move a few days later.

We continue happily through water |
An early morning the phone was ringing - the ponies are in
water to the neck on the Summer grazing field. We went there, and the
ponies walked quitely on their preferred island as always when the water
is rising though having access to 20 acres of dry grass on the other side
of the dige. When the water did not drop during the day we decided to
bring them back to the dry ground and close the gate. The ponies stayed
happily on the field until mid-November where they went home to be stabled.

showed her in the an in-hand class at the Welsh Performance Day to be 1st
Her owner also reports that Viscountess is making quick
progress being backed and ridden out. Perhaps she will join the next Welsh
Performance Day both under saddle and in-hand?

Just spend a weekend in Great Britain visiting studs. Thanks go to the
following studs which kindly showed the ponies/cobs: Brynseion, Rhydygrug,
Manorowen, Tyrcanol, Senny, Ddeunant, Pensawel, Zonneweide and Brunnera.
The stud visits was followed by the Derwen Cob Sale which was impressive
despite the bad weather conditions. Sunday I was fortunate to join the
Ceredigion Welsh Pony and Cob Association stud tour to Heniarth and
Osbourn Studs which I am very thankfully for.
Luckily, I did not rain that much when seeing ponies at studs, but I
never got out of the wellies during the week!

(Foto: Zonneweide Stud) |
First, a few photos of Silica from the show in Nevern
and Fishguard. Then a few remaining results:
-
Llandewi Brefi Show, placed 2nd under Mrs Harris of Hope
Stud
-
Pontardulais Agricultural Show (WPCS Silver Medal Show,
placed 2nd under Mrs Curtis of Kingsmead Stud
-
Llangeitho Show, placed 3rd under Mr A Bowen of Glyncoch
Stud
This is probably the last shows this year due to plenty of
cancellations because of bad weather conditions, but she will return in
the show ring next year.
Another Result for Silica
This week Silica was also shown at the Lampeter
Agricultural Show under Mr D Price Jones of the Nant y Bai Stud. She was
pulled in 2nd, but put down to 4th after HER
individual show.
Silica Reserve Champion at Nevern Show
Last Wednesday Silica went on to another show to be judged
by Mr J Hendy of the Cledwyn Stud. She was first in her class of 5 entries
and awarded the reserve championship sec.B. A result we are very pleased
with. Thank you Peter for producing her so nicely again.

Sofie & Jasmin |

Jasmin in the paddock with a new freind |
A bit of news from Lady Jasmin (Rhydspence Squire x
Kenwoods Lady Jill) which we have leased out to Sofie for riding purposes.
Jasmin are very easy to deal with even riding her without a headcollar! We
are looking forward hearing more about Jasmin and Sofie in the future.
A mail also popped in from Simone that has bought
Viscountess (Telynau Souza x Kenwoods Virginia). She is now at the
Ravnstrupgaard Stud (www.bricksite.com/ravnstrupgaard)
on the Southern part of the island Zealand. We are looking forward
following her at her new spot in the future.
New Rosettes for Silica
Silica has been nicely shown again by Mr Peter de Rade to
obtain a 2nd prize of 5 entries at a local show under Mr B Pugh.
She also joined the Cardigan Agricultural County show
where she was placed 4th in a class of 8 judged by Mr G W
Jones.
Two days later she went to another border of Wales as she
was shown at the Fishguard Show where she got another 2nd prize
of 8 entries.
Sorry to those trying to surf on our site during the week the last week. Everything should be fixed now, and I hope it will
not happen again.

The excellent Finish photographer has just visited our
stud again. This year some time was spend on Zealand to see welsh ponies.
We saw some very interesting ponies at the Dorthealyst, Aberlour,
Møllegaard, Chopin, Neble, Rosegaarden and Dynamite Studs, and we are
thankfull that the studs showed us the ponies. If you are curious to see
waht we saw please visit www.kaninkuvat.net
in short time. And last but not least thank
you so much Leena for doing such nice photos of the ponies again.
First Outing for Silica in Wales
Clausholm Silica, our pony in Wales, went to her first
show in the end of June. The show was the Ceredigion Welsh Pony and Cob
Association Summer Show where Mr Tom Best judged the sec.Bs. With 11
ponies in the class we were very pleased to have the 3rd prize at her
first show nicely produced by Mr Peter de Rade.
Jasmin Leased out for Riding
Just as the Summer holidays started for the kids at school
a young rider asked for a pony to ride dressage. Sofie came to take a
look, and Clausholm Lady Jasmin (Rhydspence Squire x Kenwoods Lady Jill)
and her seemed to be friends from the beginning so Jasmin is now with
Sofie to learn a bit dressage. Jasmin was already backed the day after
arrival, and we are looking forward following their achievements in the
future.
Last Foal Born
Kenwoods Virginia got a nice, big colt foal by Telynau
Souza early Tuesday morning this week. We have not been blessed with many
interesting white markings this year, and this colt will stay chestnut
with a blaze and two white hindlegs. He will mature to be up to height, and will
be for sale at weaning.
Clausholm Silica Heading for Wales
Due to plenty of work commitments we have chosen to send
Clausholm Silica (Rhydspence Squire x Clausholm Saphira by Telynau Souza)
out to be shown. As this is not common practice in Denmark Owen Jones of
the Nebo Stud took her back to Wales to be shown by Peter de Rade this
Summer. We keep our fingers crossed, and at least we will get a well
handled filly back!

Having had Sole Mio since March we were looking much forward seeing the
other Mantovani foal expected this year out of Clausholm Duchess.
Unfortunately, we lost the foal - a very nice colt.
Luckily, Lady Jill got another super filly foal one day later. This
foal is a true copy of her sister Lady Jacqueline being bay with a star
and a few white hairs near the hooves. She will be named Lady Jean and
will be for sale at weaning.
A few days before these foals arrived our previous mare Warmwell Safran
got a very nice filly foal by Clausholm Lord Joker. This is the first foal
by the 3-year-old colt so it was eagerly awaited. We are looking forward
following her in the future.

Results from First Youngstock Show
The first youngstock show for pony breeds was held the 19th of April in
the Northern part of Jutland. We showed 3 ponies which did very well.
First the palomino yearling filly Clausholm Sky Maxima (Dukeshill Magnum x
Clausholm Skylight) who was 3rd in her class. Then to two year old sec.Bs.
Both the filly Clausholm Silica and the colt Clausholm Viking were first
in their respective classes.
Clausholm Sole Mio
(Pendock Mantovani x Ysselvliedts Seline)
First Foal Born
Ysselvliedts Seline decided to foal an
afternoon approx. 3 weeks too early. She got a nice grey (chestnut) colt
foal. The first foal by our young sec.A colt
Pendock Mantovani. This promising colt will be for sale after weaning.
