Clausholm Lord Joker Sold

Klara og Lord Joker

Matilde og Lord Joker

As often happens with small ponies their rider get too long legs for riding them so they have to change riders. Joker has been leased out for riding to Klara for a while. The development of both have a pleasure to follow. A new young rider - Matilde - has got Joker for riding dressage and show jumping. We wish her good luck and we are looking forward following them in the future.

Leucarum Elise Arrived

Leucarum Elise

The Fayre Oaks purchase, Leucarum Elise, has arrived in perfect condition. She is now in the barn with the other mares, and hopefully she will find a friend or two in the future. In 2012 she will have a foal by Leucarum Gatsby and will be covered by Rhydspence Squire. Shortly she will have her own page under the link mares.

Juni 2011 - Foto: Leena Kahisaari

Again this November it is time to move all ponies from their meadows to the barns where they will spend the Winter chewing straw. Foals are weaned and halter broken so now they are ready to learn a few important things.

Again this year the Autumn holidays were held in the United Kingdom in good company. The stud visits included Delami, Fronarth, Cascob and Thistledown - all excellent places to see quality ponies and cobs and we are so greatfull to the owners for showing us the ponies and sheared their expert knowledge with us.

The Sale was interesting to follow; will there be any high flyers, will the prices be high or low and well there be any trade. A few hgh prices were given but not as in the previous year, but the average price seem to be reasonable. The most expensive pony was the Welsh Part Bred and Horse of the Year Qualifier Amesbury Dolly Mixture (£10300) follwed by the young International sec.B champion Thistledown Artic Fox (£9000) and most expensive welsh mountain pony was the stallion Dyfed Prophet (£5500).

A lovely trip and impressive to go to the United Kingdom to see nothing else than sunshine!!

New Welsh Mountain Colt - Waxwing Pint Pot

In the Spring the colt foal Waxwing Pint Pot was spotted on the website of the Waxwing Stud so he has now arrive to be the stallion prospect of the future. He is brother to the up-and-comming stallion Waxwing Dick Turpin being out of Waxwing Penny Dainty and by Waxwing Victory - a popular stallion used with success at Cui and Thistledown Stud. We are looking forward seeing him develop.

For the first time the Danish Pony Breeding Societies collaborated on having a performance test in dressage and show jumping for younger ponies. Klara and Clausholm Lord Joker (Rhydspence Squire x Kenwoods Lady Jill) did the test in dressage with huge success and qualified for the national finals. Well done Klara and Joker.

Once again the photographer Leena Kahisaari spend a weekend in Denmark taking several nice pictures some of which are presented above, others on the foal page and many will be used for updates throughout the site. Thank you so much Leena for the lovely pictures.

Last Foal Born

Last foal this year is a grey colt by Pendock Mantovani out of Ysselvliedts Seline. Photo can be seen at the foal page.

We expected two foals by Lemonshill Royal Flight, but they do not seem to appear this year, but hopefully we will have the option of using Royal Flight next year.

Success at Swedish Show

At the local welsh show at Burhult Stud in Sweden, the yearling filly Särken Winnie by Telynau Souza out of Cottrell Wild Rose was exhibited with success gaining a first prize and a gold medal for quality. We wish her owner and breeder, Särken Stud, congratulations with the nice results. Presently, she is for sale see www.stuterisarken.se for more information.

Another Grey Foal

A lovely grey colt foal is born by Telynau Souza out of Clausholm Lady Jasmin by Rhydspence Squire. Photos will come shortly.

Clausholm Silica to be Covered by Moelgarnedd Dewin

Moelgarnedd Dewin (Photo: Dahlsminde) x Clausholm Silica (Photo: The Event Photographer)

The Royal Welsh Winner Moelgarnedd Dewin (Carwed Charmer x Moelgarnedd Madonna) is the choice for our Royal Welsh Winner Clausholm Silica (Rhydspence Squire x Clausholm Saphira) this year. Last year he was exported from Sweden to the Dahlsminde Stud in the Southern part of Denmark. He represents new bloodlines in Denmark though the sire and dam are wellknown as being very good show and breeding ponies. We are looking forward seeing the foal next year.

New Mares

Bronheulog Jodie with Juliet (left) and Cwrtycadno Gloyw (right)

Last year at a stud visit to the Bronheulog Stud Bronheulog Jodie was spotted, and when the Bronheulog Stud advertised her for sale in the early Spring, it was decided that she could be a nice addition to the stud. She arrived in the beginning of June with her daughter Juliet by Bronheulog Royal. Jodie has a very nice pedigree being by Eyarth Figaro out of Hattongate Heidi which both has produced many good show and ridden ponies in the United Kingdom and abroad. Jodie is covered by the up and coming black stallion Hilin Glyndwr.

Due to a decision of the Mirain Stud to be on standby for a while Cwrtycadno Gloyw has been leased. She is a rather young mare with a very attractive pedigree being by last years Royal Welsh Champion Griashall Kiwi out of Cwrtycadno Glain, that presently is at the Waxwing Stud. She is now running with Clausholm Viking.

See more information on the pages of the mares.

New Foal

In the beginning of June Clausholm Saphira (Telynau Souza x Warmwell Safran) got a super grey colt foal by Rhydspence Squire. A full brother to our Royal Welsh Winner Clausholm Silica.

New Champion at Fynsk Juni Show

Again this year a Welsh Pony and Cob Society Show was held on Funen. The first time the show was held we sponsored a trophy for the overall supreme champion. This has been give to all other sections than B, but this time the judge Herr Schumacher of the Mahrdorf Stud in Germany chose the sec.B barren mare Lintelo Gracious (Lintelo Halycon x Lintelo Gratitude by Paddock White Lightning) as overall supreme champion. Congratulations to the Dahlsminde Stud. Photo by kind permisssion of Dahlsminde.

Clausholm Duchess to be Covered by Ysselvliedts Iron Destiny

Ysselvliedts Iron Destiny (Photo: Ysselvleidt) x Clausholm Duchess (Photo: Leena Kahisaari)

One of the new eyecatchers at this year's Dutch Stallion Show was a grey welsh mountain pony by the name Ysselvliedts Iron Destiny which also caught the judges eye being graded in 1st class. This grey stallion is by the famous Springbourne Glide out of Ysselvliedts Irene by Baledon Jerimiah going back through the granddam Sunwillow Isola to Coed Coch Siaradus - one of the most prominent broodmares from Coed Coch. Hanne of the Greenhill Stud was also present at the Stallion Show, and when she saw him advertised for sale at the Ysselvliedt Stud, she made the investment, and now he is in Denmark. It is always interesting when new stallions arrive, and why not test him by sending a mare? The champion mare Clausholm Duchess (Ysselvliedts Dalvair x Reekse Hoek Desi) was chosen to be the mare. We are looking forward seeing the resulting foal next year.

Foals by Cwrtycadno Sadwrn

The first and only foals by the young stalllion Cwrtycadno Sadwrn (Cwrtycadno Cymro x Polaris Columbine) is born. First, a grey/roan filly foal out of Clausholm Vitara (Rhydspence Squire x Kenwoods Virgina) and then her dam, Kenwood Virginia (Eyarth Caradog x Shamrock Spindlewood), got a grey/roan colt foal. Unfortunately, the milk of Vitara is not sufficient for the filly foal, but this issue she has solved at the udder of Virginia! Only Vitara is a little sceptical. We are very pleased with both and we hope to bring some photos asap.

New Foal by Clausholm Viking in Norway

Northwind Circle of Life (Photo: Bitte Andersen)

The next sec.B foal from Clausholm Viking (Rhydspence Squire x Kenwoods Virginia) is born in Norway. A very nice chestnut filly, named Northwind Circle of Life, out of Bronheulog Black Rose (Hilin Glyndwr x Bronheulog Gypsy Rose). Congratulations to the Northwind Stud and her owner Linda Gaptjern. Another two foals are expected by Viking this Summer and fingers crossed for success. We are looking forward following the foals in the future.

New Rider for Clausholm Lord Joker

Clausholm Lord Joker (Rhydspence Squire x Kenwoods Lady Jill) has been leased out for riding purposes to 12 year-old Klara who will ride him untill she gets too old in the end of this year. We are looking forward seeing the red rosettes achieved at dressage competitions.

Another Filly Foal Is Born

Mid-May saw the arrival of the first sec.B foal this year - a chestnut/grey filly by Rhydspence Squire out of Clausholm Lady Jacqueline. Pictures will come asap

Clausholm Lord Joker Gelded

We decided to let Joker geld as his future will be as top performance pony which requires 100% concentration from both pony and a young jockey.

Northwinds King of Halling New Foal by Clausholm Viking

Another foal by Clausholm Viking is born at the Northwind Stud in Norway. This colt foal is out of Bronheulog Gemimah by Eayrth Figaro. Congratulations to the Northwind Team. We are looking forward seeing them in the future.s

New Owners of Clausholm Scilla and Clausholm Delight

Clausholm Scilla by Rhydspence Squire out of Warmwell Safran is now owned by 6 year-old Dicte who will use her for riding in the future. Mum fell in love with the welsh mountain filly Clausholm Delight by Ysselvliedt Highflyer out of Reekse Hoek Desi and bought her covered by Pendock Mantovani. We looking forward following the all in the future.

First Foals 2011

Clausholm D...... 1 day old

Clausholm S............. ½ day old

Finally, the first foals arrived first was the foundation Welsh Mountain mare Reekse Hoek Desi who got a bay/brown filly foal by Pendock Mantovani. When the Welsh Mountain mare Clausholm Serenade saw this foal she decided to give birth to her first foal - a chestnut filly also by Pendock Mantovani.

Northwinds La Boheme (Foto: Lena Reinertsen Erfjor

In the beginning of April the first foals of Clausholm Viking started to arrive in Norway at the Northwind Stud. First was the palomino filly Northwinds Moulin Rouge ex. Bleachgreen Swallow by Cnapton Chipmunk followed by the colt foal Northwinds La Boheme ex. Molinas Gipsy by Eyarth Ramah. Both look to have a bright future, and fingers crossed that the remaining 4 foals at Northwind will be of equal quality.

New Stallion at Stud

From the Mirain Stud we have leased the young stallion Cwrtycadno Sadwrn, who also spend last Summer with some of our mares, for 2011. He will be available on the same conditions as Telynau Souza, Rhydspence Squire, Clausholm Viking and Pendock Mantovani. Cwrtycadno Sadwrn won a bronze medal and several supreme championships as foal, and at the Mirain stud he sired several nice foals including the colt foal Mirain Toy Soldier who was overall supreme champion at the largest Foal and Youngstock Show in Denmark. We are looking forward seeing the foals out of Kenwoods Virginia and her daughter Clausholm Vitara.

Clausholm Dutch Design

One of the first welsh mountain ponies we bred was Clausholm Dutch Design (Vechtzicht Hazy x Reekse Hoek Desi). He is still fit for fight, says his present owner, Karina Kold, who uses him at stud and as ridden pony. He loves being used whether with minor pilot or loose jumped as shown on the picture. We look forward following him in the future.

Stallions at Stud 2011

Again this year we can offer out proven stallions, Telynau Souza, Rhydspence Squire, Clausholm Viking and Pendock Mantovani, at stud to visiting mares. Take a look at their sites by following the link and contact us if interested.

WPBR Champion David van den Hout

Again in 2011 the Winter Holidays were spend in the Netherlands at the stallion show. As always we saw plenty of stallions all containing more or less welsh blood. Even for Winter Holidays it was lovely to see green grass and feel 10 degrees!!

Several ponies were entered for the first inspection on Friday. The largest group consisted of Dutch partbreds followed by the welsh mountain ponies and welsh ponies. Of approx. 120 entered around 35 passed first inspection and was allowed to proceed to inspection on hard ground and veterinary examination. Saturday was initiated giving premiums to the previous graded ponies. As the newly graded Dutch part breds ponies are not allowed for the part bred championship, the champion was chosen from the older ponies being Heitraks Marvin (De Goede Ree Now or Never x Molenhorns Gracia). Among the 3-year-old approved part breds the most spectacular trotting pony was selected. The honour was awarded Orchard (G) Wildeman (Orchard Red Prince x Orchard Swetlana). The champion of the "real" part breds was again this year David van den Hout (FS Champion de Luxe x Naomi van den Hout) without much competition as no new Welsh Part Breds were graded. Limited number of entries characterised the cobs and cob type ponies so the championship for sec.C was awarded to the one and only Cobmels Syndod Haf (Fronarth Lucky Strike x Washingpool Hafwen). Of the previous and new graded welsh pony stallions the championship was awarded to Bekvelds Dave (Breeton Dai x Woldbergs Song) though there were some good colts among the newly graded 3-year-olds headed by Stockham Aristocrat (Rotherwood Aristotle x Horsegate Sapphire). The second largest lot of the weekend consisted of mountain ponies, and here the newly graded ponies could neither compete with the previous graded ponies as the championship was awarded to Roetsenests Santa Fe (Springbourne Glide x Nebus Serena). De Evertshoeves D'Elegance (Vlonderzichts Harm x De Everthoeves Angaretta) and Ysselvliedts Iron Destiny (Springbourne Glide x Ijsselvliedts Irene) headed the classes for 3-year-old and elderly, respectively. A nice break in a cold snowy Winter, and as always in good company.

Clausholm Dot Sold

The filly Clausholm Dot by the Australian owned Ysselvliedt Golden Boy out our foundation mare Reekse Hoek Desi has changed owner. We wish Birgit and the girl a lot of success with her in the future.
